Public Safety

The Department of Public Safety strives to provide a safe and secure environment conducive to living and learning. Our efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment rely on our ability to develop collaborative relationships with the many communities that make up the University. We believe that through partnering and problem solving, we can continue to make RWU one of the safest Universities in the country.

Public Safety members also act as first responders to campus emergencies. Major components of this service include the Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) who respond to medical emergencies on campus and are licensed by the State of Rhode Island. The DPS has nine EMT's who also serve as Public Safety Officers.

Rave Guardian logo

Rave Guardian is a campus safety app available at the University that turns your smart phone into a personal safety device. Allows users to check in with family, friends, Public Safety or others you trust to help you stay safe. You can use the app to set a safety timer, create and message your guardians or initiate emergency help requests at the push of a button. And Rave Guardian can be used to send an anonymous tip to Public Safety if you see something on campus that looks out of place or dangerous.
